Here you can find 12 sets of birthstone jewellery, one collection for each month of the year. Originally the stones were linked via the zodiac signs but later referred to the calendar months.

In the 17th century it became custom for wealthy people to wear a different piece of birthstone jewellery each month to help harness the different properties of the stones and to give the wearer protection. Since the 18th century custom settled on the less expensive and extensive jewellery collections with an individual wearing the stone from their birth month only.

In 1937 the National Association of Goldsmiths defined the current list with the older traditional stones and also modern alternatives.

January – Garnet

February – Amethyst

March – Aquamarine

April  РDiamond or Rock Crystal

May – Emerald or Chrysoprase

June – Pearl or Moonstone

July – Ruby or Carnelian

August – Peridot

September – Sapphire or Lapis Lazuli
